The number of victims due to the freight aircraft that ignited and plummeted has now climbed to 13, as confirmed by recent reports.
Mayor's Statement
“On my way to the Union’s memorial service, I was informed of a 13th person that passed away as a result of the aircraft crash,” wrote the local official in a social media post. “My heart are with the loved ones, friends and co-workers of all who were taken in this week’s calamity. We will endure this together.”
Deceased Named
An announcement from the carrier listed the flight crew on board the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.
“Our sympathies are extended to every employee who has been affected and everyone in our Louisville area – helping you and guaranteeing you receive the support and aid you need is our priority,” the company’s communication stated.
Inquiry Details
Federal investigators revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s wing caught fire and an engine fell off shortly after departure from the aviation hub, causing the plane to crash and explode into a blaze.
The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is investigating the jet’s upkeep logs, which was in Texas for repairs weeks ahead of the incident.
Aircraft records showed the aircraft was on the runway in that location from 3 September to mid-October.
“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was located in the facility,” stated an official on Thursday, not giving a precise time frame. “We will look at all elements of service that was done, even the repair visit, right up to the day of the journey.”
Retrieval of Key Items
The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was located on the runway.
The recorders – referred to as data containers – were designed to survive crash impacts and severe fire from infernos, and they looked to be undamaged when found among the remains. Investigators will examining data from the recorders.
Aircraft’s concluding recorded information indicated an height of 475 feet and a rate of that speed before the accident.

Services Restart
Meanwhile, the facility services continued last night with its express also known as evening process, spokesperson the company official stated. Each of the three tarmacs at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also open again.
The distribution hub in Louisville is the company’s most significant. The center engages in excess of 20,000 people in the locality, processes three hundred flights per day and organizes over a huge volume of items per hour.
Public Response
A candlelight vigil was held on the evening of 6 November by the area Teamsters Union, which supports employees at the Louisville airport, the organization’s primary shipping facility.
The union chapter, which supports UPS workers, began the vigil with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the rough hour of the accident previously.
“This event was so abrupt, so unexpected,” the leader spoke to the crowd of 200. “No one had a opportunity to part to any one of those who we have mourned.”
